Have you used one or more already?
Have you had one recommended? Have you used one that you never want to see again? Are you accountant and, in your experience, have bookeeping software that you swear by? Whether you are starting out or have been running your own business for some time, it would be interesting to see the general consensus I do already have an opinion on this, but will save this for now and let you know my thoughts later Ed |

I worked for a real estate firm for three years and our accounting software back then is DDEV of The Developer which is tailor fit for real estate transactions. Now that I run a small business, I really like Quickbooks because it is user friendly and basically has what I need.

Must admit that I'm still with an excel sheet! But then my needs are not that complicated. However, getting to the point where I will soon need to think about it.
Not done any research but Quickbooks seems to be the one I hear most about.

I am currently heavily involved in advocating Kashflow. It is a really simple, easy to use package for small businesses.
It is a web based package and offers all the functionality of some of the more renowned packages including Sage, but you don't need to be an accountant or bookeeper to understand it. |

I find VT cash book is good; it's free to download & fairly simple to use & will give you a profit & loss/balance sheet easily so you can see where you are.

If you bank with FNB in South Africa I highly recommend FNB instant accounting. It is free to FNB customers and automatically brings in your bank statement and assigns to ledgers. It can manage cash transactions and has a debtors and creditors ledger if you need it. I use it and it saves me so much time.

Barclays Bank in the UK has a similar offering. If you go for one of their account opening packages then this includes Sage. They run monthly courses on how to use it.
